Christian (and Jewish) holy literature. It consists of two parts: The “Old Testament” and the “New Testament.” According to the Revised Standard Version, the OT consists of 46 books, while the NT has 27 books, total 73 books. Versions other than RSV have more or less books. There is no agreement among the Christians over the exact number of books in the Bible, there being hundreds of versions. Christians believe in both OT and NT as of divine origin; but the Jews do not accept any part of the NT. Their belief in the OT is also dubious. Their religion is somewhat secretive and, therefore, they have never said openly what they in believe and what they do not.
